Police Urge The Cancellation of DMX Show In New England Over Concerns Of Violence

A concert featuring superstar rapper DMX has been canceled at the urging of police in New England, over concerns of violence.
DMX was supposed to hit the stage at Whites of Westport on September 7, but a number of incidents in the area moved police to urge Whites, as well as the local promoter Hurricane Promotions, to cancel the concert.
“This cancellation is very unfortunate. DMX loves to perform for his his fans and hates to have to reschedule his shows. However, we are still taking bookings and are hoping to create a national tour this Fall,” Domenick Nati, of Nati Celebrity Services told AllHipHop.com.
Two men were shot – one fatally – at a Providence nightclub over the weekend, while a show featuring Philadelphia rapper Cassidy ended in brawls early Friday morning (August 24).
“Local law enforcement strongly advised us against doing this,” White’s VP Chris Lafrance told The Herald News. “We’ll regroup, maybe find some acts that fit a little better for the venue.”
Hurricane Promotions’ Michael Herren said that he had a security plan in place for the DMX concert and didn’t expect any issues, despite the violence last weekend.
In addition to White’s own in-house security, ten state police were slated to be stationed around the venue, which can hold around 1,500 people.
Several hundred tickets had already been sold at $33 a-piece. Those fans who paid in advance can receive a full refund from Whites.

HIP-HOP VOTES!: When Rappers Come Together Via Hip-Hop 2 Vote, A Cause Is Born

Editor’s Note: There are less than 75 days until voters nationwide will descend upon the polls to elect officials to some of the top offices in the country. This election year has been unlike any other in recent years past, and the critical issues that affect everyday citizens – like the economy, healthcare, and civil rights – matter more than ever.
AllHipHop.com is committed to helping convene the Hip-Hop generation at the polls. All this week, join us to learn about some of the ways OUR CULTURE is stepping up big to ensure the right to vote.
(AllHipHop News) Hakim Green and Queen Yonasda Lonewolf know a thing or two about movements that create change.
Queen Yonasda
Lonewolf, a rapper and granddaughter to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, has championed the rights of women, Native Americans, and all people for years. Green, a member of the now-defunct KRS-One offshoot, Channel Live, is known more for his Hip-Hop flavored activism around North Jersey these days than the agile rhymes he still delivers.
The two have joined forces alongside organizations such as the Hip Hop Union and local colleges and universities to create the Hip Hop 2 Vote movement, a nonpartisan effort to empower youth with a voice through their all-important votes at the polls this fall under the theme, “My Voice. My Vote. My Victory.”
Hakim Green of Channel Live
While there are lots of voter engagement initiatives springing forth in the final months before Election 2012, Hip Hop 2 Vote differs in the fact that it is rap artist driven. According to organizers, it also seeks to create an ongoing platform with Hip-Hop inspired solutions to a number of economic, social, and medical issues plaguing the community.
Lonewolf, who is also connected to the Wu-Tang Clan family, is helping to organize and host a series of Hip Hop 2 Vote summits around the country, with the aim of connecting people – especially the 18-35 year old demographic – to voter registration, policy education, and more.
Green recently led a Hip Hop 2 Vote summit at Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York, and the next two summits are set for September 23 and 24 at Lany College in Oakland, California, and October 6 at Project South Community Center, and October 7 at Phoenix College in Phoenix, Arizona.

Philly Drug Kingpin Ace Capone Releases Tell-All, “Go Hard: The Takedown of Ace Capone”A

Former Philadelphia drug kingpin Ace Capone is preparing to release a tell-all, auto-biography titled “Go Hard: The Takedown of Ace Capone,” which will chronicle the rise and fall of his label, Take Down Records.
Ace Capone, born Alton Coles, was the CEO of the label until March of 2008, when he was convicted of running a $25 million cocaine operation, that distributed drugs in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware.
While he was on the streets, Take Down artists like Bugsy and Snake worked with Philly rappers like Freeway, Beanie Sigel and Tone Trump .
“This book was not written to glorify the game. It was written to reveal the aftermath of what happens as a result of being raised in an environment upon poor parenting skills, as well as being a key player in the streets,” Ace Capone told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “Although the book is solely for entertainment purposes for the readers, the overall gain and lesson of this book is to learn from our mistakes and to lead those that are mislead/misguided.”
“Go Hard” will be the first in a trilogy of books Ace Capone is writing from the Big Sandy Federal Correctional Institution, where he is currently serving life + 55 years.
The book is being released by Key To Life Publishing, a new company the former drug baron has formed to release positive influential books. In addition to the Go Hard series, the book imprint is planning the release of “Product of My Environment,” which will be an explanation guide for troubled youth and their parents.
A “Go Hard” book release party is slated for Friday, September 14 at Millcreek Tavern in Philadelphia.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Tony Yayo: “Why Would I Diss 50 Cent?”

AHA! Tony Yayo was NOT dissing 50 Cent over the weekend. I think. He posed a question an I want to answer it.
The day after this happened, Yayo got back on twitter to clarify after all the dust settled. The G-Unity Capo said the following.
Now, all respect due, but Tony Yayo knows there are only a couple ways for that tweet to be interpreted. So, I will answers it. Why? Well its easy! 50 Cent has been saying a lot of stuff about Yayo and Banks and its not flattering. Also, 50 has been rolling tight with his new business bestie Floyd Mayweather. Also, it wasn’t the media, but T.Y. own followers that were hyping it up. Surely he’s not going to mess up what he has with 50 Cent to wage war, right? Never that. But, I am almost sure he can’t continue on without feeling a way about how 50 has talked in the media about him and Lloyd Banks. Also, let it be known that G-Unit isn’t the first crew to be headed up by a rapper or any of that. I’m not sure what formula he was referring to.
In related crap, The Game decided to add his two cents in as well.
The Game said: “uh oh, 50 gone cut off yo health benefits & stop ya Vitamin water shipments u keep it up lol”
The Game starting fights with former friends. I wonder if he did when he was a kid.
Looks like The Game is actually starting fights again, but with enemies! This was sent to AHH. For more, read: Hip-Hop Rumors: Is Game Bullying Another Artist?
This guy is about to get married?! Prioritize, man, prioritize!

Lil Wayne and DJ Drama were to deliver the highly anticipated Dedication 4 mixtape yesterday (August 15), but the project has been pushed back until further notice for a good cause.
The Young Money mogul didn’t want to interfere with the release of 2 Chainz’s Based On A T.R.U. Story album which was released on same day.

EXCLUSIVE: Freeway Ricky Ross Calls Rick Ross’ Rolling Stone Interview “BS” and “Scripted”

Rick Ross’ new interview/cover with Rolling Stone magazine could be used against him in an upcoming court case, over the battle for his stage name.
Freeway Ricky Ross, a legendary reformed Los Angeles drug kingpin, has an upcoming court date against Warner Brothers over a lawsuit that claims the label stole his image.
Rick Ross claimed that his main reason for becoming a correctional officer was because a lifelong friend went to prison, prompting the rapper to take up the job.
“This was my best friend, who I ate peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches with, and pork and beans with, my buddy, my partner, my number-one dude,” Rick Ross told Rolling Stone. “Suddenly I’m talking to him over federal phone calls. Hearing the way it was building, I knew I couldn’t take nothing for granted. My homey’s father was a huge influence on my life, too . . . He was the one who was like, ‘Yo, go get a job somewhere, man. Go be a fireman. Or go be a fucking corrections officer. Just go sit down somewhere.”
Freeway Ricky Ross spoke to AllHipHop.com about the interview and questioned Rick Ross’ authenticity once again.
“The answers in this Rolling Stone article were BS, this is scripted to make it look like he had some struggle,” Freeway Ricky Ross told AllHipHop.com. “No one tells you to go be a correctional officer before all the other jobs that build our community, especially not when their son just got convicted for a long sentence.”
Although Freeway Ricky has lost two earlier court rulings and was recently ordered to pay a portion of Rick Ross’ legal bills, he was granted an appeal against Warner Brothers and will be deposing its executives Sean “Diddy” Combs, Todd Moscowitz and Lyor Cohen, over the next 30 days.
Freeway Ricky Ross’ lawsuit claims that the record label stole his image and is using it to profit and make millions, via the rapper Rick Ross, born William Leonard Roberts II.
“There was an understanding of the value of my name because of multiple millions being pushed globally by all major news outlets to cover the Iran Contra and Crack epidemic and my involvement as Rick Ross,” Freeway Ricky Ross told AllHipHop.com. “These music executives recognized it and set up to steal that value, because I had a life sentence and refused to include me in the process. I believe our kids need to see more than the glamor of my life, they need to see the cost too.”

Chris Brown and Drake Sued for $16 Million in Manhattan Bottle Throwing Brawl

According to documents filed in New York’s Manhattan Supreme Court, Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. has filed suit for $16 million in damages resulting from the fight involving Chris Brown and Drake.
In a recent article in the New York Post detailing the suit, Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. states that both Chris Brown and Drake “shared a grudge against the other arising out of their romantic relationships with the same woman,” Rihanna, and when they “crossed paths,” they “began to fight violently with each other.”
The suit also states that, “each arrived with his own small army of bodyguards, ‘security’ personnel, employees, friends and other members of their entourage, consisting of at least 15 heavily built men trained and/or experienced in hand-to-hand and weapons combat.”
Both entourages are said to have “fashioned deadly weapons out of whatever materials they could find, including glasses, alcohol bottles and furniture, thereby circumventing the nightclubs’ extensive efforts to ensure a safe environment.”
As well, the article states that Entertainment Enterprises is filing suit because it owns the trademark on the Greenhouse name outside of New York, and that it had negotiated a $4 million deal to license the name in place until the melee ruined negotiations.
Neither Drake nor Chris Brown has been formally charged in the incident, but the suit is officially being filed for”gross negligence,” “ultrahazardous activity,” and “intentional illegal acts.”
More news as details emerge.

EXCLUSIVE: Yung Berg Details Creation Of “Snapbacks & Tattoos”; Soulja Boy Remix On The Way

Yung Berg recently spoke with AllHipHop.com about creating one of this year’s summer anthems, “Snapbacks and Tattoos”, which has almost gone gold.
“The ‘Snapbacks and Tattoos’ beat, I originally thought Big Sean should have had the record. We changed the beat like seven different times,” Yung Berg told AllHipHop.com. “The thing was, I didn’t know what to do with it. I cut a mixtape verse to it – I didn’t like it. So, I played it on my TV for Driicky when he was in Miami, and the rest is history. He left with the beat.”
According to Yung Berg, the record draws comparison to one of his last major hits and helped Driicky land a cushiony deal with indie record label eOne Music.
“This is one of them moments where I feel like, man, ‘Sexy Lady’ was a two-track [production]. That s**t still isn’t tracked out. ‘Snapbacks and Tattoos’, the one you hear is a two-track. I still haven’t mixed the record. I haven’t got a chance to spread it across the board, but when it happens organically, and with God working…shout out to Soulja Boy. Me and him have a remix joint over the ‘Snapbacks’.”
